As signatories of the ALBA declaration and inspired by the initiative of the Association Femmes et Sciences, Université Paris-Saclay and Université de Montpellier (https://www.femmesetsciences.fr/mentorat), the France Cerebellum Club has started a mentoring program for young researchers (PhD students, Postdoc, starting researchers). The goal is to help them determine and achieve career goals by providing one-to-one monthly counsel and follow-up during one year.
While we are making progress in terms of gender equality in academia, clear disparities remain (see for example https://mpdf.cnrs.fr/egalite-professionnelle/etat-des-lieux/). Therefore this year we favored applications by female scientists. The program was launched on April 15th 2022. Three pairs of mentors/mentees were established. A presentation of this program and the initiation of the second round of mentoring will be done in January 2023 at the next FCC meeting.
